01 Oct Delray Beach will install Barriers along Railroad Tracks Downtown

dscf7931dscf7905After the unfortunate death of a Boca Raton woman crossing the tracks in downtown Delray, Human Powered Delray was successful in pushing for an important safety feature for the community.

Through the actions of HPD and other community members, barriers will now be installed along downtown railroad tracks.

After seeing the article in the Palm Beach post a friend of the the woman that was killed reached out to Patrick Halliday of HPD with the following:

Dear Patrick,

I want to thank you for your diligent efforts to get a barrier put up on the tracks by Atlantic Ave. Robin was my dearest friend and neighbor and I’m glad to know this tragic accident may be prevented due to your efforts. Ironically, today is her (second) memorial service in Aiken, South Carolina; the article was a reminder that good people are all around us even if we don’t know them personally. It gives some peace to know her tragic death will not be in vain.

I’m glad to know we have people in our community such as you and the members of your organization.

Thank you,
Sybil Boyd
